Fall Vacation :)

So since it takes me forever to post something I guess now is as good of a time as any to tell you about my most recent trip. It was in October and I went with my friends Kim and Megan (and Megan's boyfriend) to California. It was so much fun, California is always on the top of list when I am looking for a fun road trip. The first night we drove down to Vegas and stayed the at the Stratosphere Tower Hotel. We got there pretty late but hey, its Vegas! It was just in time for the party to start. We started at the north end of the strip and walked down to the middle, making stops and seeing the sights. We ended up at the Bellagio (my hotel of choice) and spent an hour or two there doing some gambling. (of course none of us won anything)

The next day were up and ready to hit the beach, after a few more hours of playing we hopped in the car and headed to Hollywood!! Unfortunately for us we got there and saw rain! Not just a little rain but a full on downpour! It never rains in Southern California and it chose that day of all days to start! So we checked into our hotel and waited and waited. It was getting late and we finally said screw it. We are on vacation and we were going to enjoy it! So we packed up and headed for the Santa Monica Pier. It was dark at this point but it was not that big of a deal because there was lots of stuff to do on the Pier. (or so we thought) We got there and realized it wasn't going to be as we were hoping. As the rain got worse we started out on the pier to look for a place to eat. We got all the way down to the end to this really nice restaurant that looked good just to see that it had closed early due to the weather. We were sad and wet! So we trudged back up the pier and settled for Bubba Gumps Shrimp Company that was out overlooking the beach and Pacific Ocean. (it was actually quite delicious!) After a nice dinner and soaking in the rain we called it a night.

Our second day in L.A we were hoping for some better weather. But as lucky as we are we woke up to more rain! (come on Southern California! was that necessary) Today was the day for Universal Studios! We walked down the street to the Santa Monica Boulevard Metro Station and were off to the Theme Park. When we got there we actually lucked out. Because of the weather there were not very many people there at all. We hardly had to wait in line! Universal Studios was amazing! The rides were fun and all but I was personally more interested in the movie stages and sets and behind the scenes stuff. We went on the back lot tour and that took us through the massive studios. There were dozens of sound stages and sets and it was really interesting to see. Finally, just as we were getting ready to leave Universal that afternoon, we saw the sun peak through! It was the first time since we had been in California that we saw it. Unfortunately it only lasted about a half an hour. So we got back on the metro and got off at Hollywood and Highland. We stopped and saw the sights of Hollywood such as the Kodak Theatre Graumens Chinease Theatre and the Walk of Fame. We even got to catch a glimpse of the Hollywood Sign. (you could barely see it because it was so overcast) We hit up Mel's Diner for dinner and then headed in for the night. We were exhausted, and had to rest of for the best day of all! DISNEY!

Our last day in California was the day we were all waiting for! Disneyland! We got up early and headed down to Anaheim for a fun-filled day at the happiest place on earth! Again it was overcast but thankfully no rain today! We first started at California Adventure because it was not open as late. We rode the rides, met the characters and saw the shows. The best show was the new live Aladdin Musical that just recently opened. It was fantastic! We spent half the day at California adventure and then made our way across the lot to Disneyland. We were there until close and enjoyed every minute of it! Both parks were decorated for Halloween and it was amazing! By the end of the night we were once again exhausted but every single minute of it was worth it. Our last day we woke up early and headed home. It was such a fun trip, even with the bad weather, I was so glad I was able to go. Hopefully I will be able to get back there soon :)
